Release notes
New Features
- Support of GPT 5.4. GPT 5.4 is now the model implemented in XLeap-predefined AI profile "ChatGPT 5".
- New sub-option "Participants see all untagged contributions" when participants are restricted to only seeing their "group's" or "team's" contributions. When enabled, participants now see contributions of their group or team and contributions not associated with any group or team.
Improvements to existing features
- Opening of workspaces for participants throws an error if the workspace is
- configured for anonymity with group info but groups have not yet been defined.
- configured for anonymity with team info but fewer than two teams have been defined.
- When view control of results charts and tables is delegated to participants:
- Host and Host-assistant can change their view independently.
- The last change made by either Host or Host-assistant becomes the default for new participants entering the workspace.
- When delegation of view control of results charts and tables to participants is revoked, the view of all users including Host and Host-assistant are synchronized with that of the user who ended delegation.
Bug fixes
The following bugs have been fixed:
- General
- When workspaces were selectively opened for all participants, adding of groups and reassignment of participants to groups could result in the workspaces becoming closed for members of some groups.
- When emojis were included in contributions, these could fail to display correctly.
- Brainstorm/Deep Dive/Presentation
- Renumbering chronologically did not correctly renumber, when items had previously been re-ordered by drag-and-drop.
- In group restricted view, participants which made use of the permission to see the contributions of other groups, could get stuck, when the host deleted that other group.
- When views were restricted via "Participants see" options, the Host's view selector could fail to offer participant perspectives for selection by the Host.
Technology
- Update to Tomcat 9.0.115
- Update to Angular 19
Improvements to existing features
- The pre-defined XLeap AI profile “ChatGPT 5” now uses model GPT-5.2
- Enterprise deployments:
- Inactivity timeout: A longer inactivity timeout for the Presentation workspace now also applies to the presenter.
- Inactivity timeout: On closing of a Presentation workspace, the inactivity timers of users are reset to zero counting towards the inactivity limit of the destination workspace.
- Center administration: The controls for scheduled password changes have been re-ordered to better show dependencies between controls.
- Updated XLeap logo.
Bug fixes
The following bugs have been fixed:
- Result table. Sorting by nSD, n, or scale values could be inconsistent if numbering was set to “rank in folder” and group comparison was enabled.
- Inactivity timeout. On reaching the inactivity limit, the client was locked instead of logged off.
- Enterprise deployments:
- Session Code: Hosts could not specify session codes of fewer than 8 characters even if permitted by Center administration.
- Security question: Addition of a security question erroneously flagged previously set-up questions as errors.
- Co-Hosting with groups: Switching roles between Host and participant could lose the user’s assignment to a group.
- Contact info. Password managers could autofill email addresses in Center admin > Contact info.
Improvements
XLeap tries to automatically reconnect participants who have been disconnected by the energy-saving features of their browsers. These features have become more 'aggressive', with such unwanted disconnections causing issues for advanced use cases such as the filtering of views, i.e., when participants contribute anonymously and can only see their own contributions.
The following changes should improve the user experience:
- Reconnected users are now correctly navigated to their previous workspaces (if applicable).
- ONLY for workspaces with view setting \"See only their own contributions\", contributions of users disconnecting or logging off are not immediately anonymized. This delayed anonymization keeps their contributions visible when they re-enter the workspace.
Note: For workspaces with a view policy other than \"See only their own contributions\", technical anonymization occurs directly at logout or timeout (as before). ALL untagged contributions - regardless of view settings - are technically anonymized when the session is closed.
Bug fixes
The following bugs are now fixed:
- The inactivity timeout was not correctly applied for the Presentation workspace.
Technology
- The embedded Apache Tomcat application server has been updated to version 9.0.111
Bug fixes
The following bugs are now fixed:
- The time zone of sessions starting and ending on the same day was not displayed in the Process designer and not copied to email invitations.
- In Multi-criteria ratings by separate Rating sheets, some Rating sheets could reject specification of a different duration and revert to the duration specified for the first Rating sheet.
- Hosts could not 'focus' participants on segment 'other' of a pie chart.
- The table of contents of the Word report could cut off the titles of workspaces.
- Colors of heatmap quadrants could reset to default if they were specified before the quadrant was named.
- Opening a workspace did not immediately broadcast to participants but instead could take up to 10 seconds via a fallback mechanism.
New features
- Support of GPT-5
- Hosts on personal XLeap Centers can now set up custom profiles for OpenAI
Bug fixes
The following bugs are now fixed:

- Chart: When folder controls were delegated to participants, changes to folder view settings of multi-criteria charts by Host assistants did not update the Host assistant's view.
- Chart: Copying items from a Pie chart with an ‘other’ segment crashed the toolbar across workspaces.
- Chart: Data-point tooltips of Multi-criteria charts with team comparison could fail to give the detailed data of the underlying results table.
- Chart: Session import could fail for sessions with custom chart axis value ranges.
- Chart: View setting "append/prefix folder name" had no effect in pie charts.
- Rating: Rating workspaces with anonymity setting "named" could fail to show previously submitted ballots if resubmission was enabled after rating has started.
- Rating: The prompt for comments on rating did not always give correct info on whether commenting was mandatory.

Fixes
The following bugs are now fixed:
- Rating. Participants in the process of rating were not adequately notified of a switch to named rating.
- Results tables. Use of mathematical operators in column titles could cause multiple issues.
- Time zones. A change of time zone triggered erroneous and inconsistent computations of start and end times instead of merely stating that the set times refer to a certain time zone.
- User administration. Unlocking of a temporarily locked user could fail to show directly in the administrator's GUI.
- Report builder. The buttons for saving and restoring personal defaults were hidden rather than disabled when not applicable.
- Copy contacts. Copying contact info of session participants with option "name + email" occurred with formatting errors.
- Groups. Changed group colors did not refresh (show) directly for participants.
- Next steps. "Next steps" dialogues were displayed despite the Host already taking said next steps.
- File export. In rare circumstances, files could lose their suffix (e.g., .zip or .xleap) when downloaded to disk.
- Chimes. Chimes could ignore the Host's chime settings.
- Pagination. On small screens (phones), the pagination widget could be off screen.
- Templates. Template readers could delete heat maps.
Fixes
The following bugs are now fixed:
- Process Designer: The trash button of the toolbar remained visible after trash was purged.
- Presentation: Copies of a Presentation workspace 'remembered' a previously appointed presenter. This could lead to slide controls being unavailable to a newly appointed presenter. The fix only applies to fresh copies of Presentation workspaces. Existing copies can be fixed by switching to 'All independently' before assigning slide control to a new presenter.
- Brainstorm/DeepDive/Presentation: When view setting was set to 'Participants see only their own contribution', the Host's selector for view could fail to offer the relevant perspectives.
- Templates: Template readers with the role of Template manager could inadvertantly delete a heat map configuration simply by entering the view tab of workspace settings.
- Copying of templates/sessions: Under very rare circumstances, structural content such as folders, topics or slides could fail to be copied along when a session or template was copied.
- Copying of templates/sessions: Process Designer settings 'Time process' and 'Open workspaces selectively' reverted to default 'Off' when the session or template was copied.
Improvements
- Rating. The progress meters for rating methods 'budget allocation' and 'multiple selection' have been improved
- Time zone. Changes of time zone in the Invitation dialogue no longer change the time specified in the time/date widgets as this was considered annoying by many.

Bug fixes
The following bugs are now fixed:
- Hosts ending the conference while a participant with poor connection was being automatically reconnected could require that participant to log out from XLeap before being able to connect again.
- Changes to the color of a sticky dot were not saved directly (WYSIWYG) but only on closing of the sticky dot settings tab.
- In Brainstorm, if only folders or comments (but not ideas) were specified as allocation targets, sticky dots could fail to register when returned to the sticky dots bar.
- Hosts who had reserved group assignment (assignment by Host) but not specified groups (yet) were asked to assign groups when participants entered the session.
New features
All deployments
- Named rating. Submissions can now be tagged with the name of the participant.
- Comments on rating are also tagged.
- If participants are assigned to groups, group comparison works for 'named' ratings.
- Named (non-anonymous) ratings are given in the Excel export file.
- Tagging ‘with group info’. Switch of anonymity settings from ‘named contribution’ to ‘with group info’, renders existing contributions anonymous and displays applicable group tags.
- Standard Deviation. Hosts can disable normalization of Standard Deviation. Normalized Standard Deviation is now abbreviated to ‘nSD’ as opposed to ‘SD’.
- Font on data points. In Multi-criteria charts the font for numbering data points scales with the number of digits for better legibility.
Organizational deployments
- Exported use statistics. Worksheet “All descriptors” has been extended by columns for ‘number of participants’, ‘number of contributions’, ‘session status’, and ‘last accessed’. Administrators should note that:
- Number of participants per session can only be given for future sessions.
- Last access can only be given for sessions which have not been deleted prior to this release.
- Alternative message on login page. Center administration can now opt for putting the organization’s name before ‘XLeap Center’ as in “Welcome to the [organization] XLeap Center.”
